Everyone "knowing" Santana is gay and knowing Santana is gay is the difference between "I kissed a girl and I liked it" and "I kissed a girl and I liked it cause you know, I'm a lesbian."
If I agreed with this any harder I'd probably rupture something. There's been so much discussion about how "Finn didn't realize what he was doing because everyone 'knows' Santana's gay," but we haven't been shown a damn thing to indicate anyone, outside a few of the more perceptive members of ND, understands that her feelings for Brittany aren't just "we fuck because it feels good and there's no one better available," but "I've realized that my primary emotional and sexual connections are with women, Brittany in particular." The former is somewhat acceptable because it doesn't fundamentally disturb patriarchal structures; the latter isn't.
I like Rory, too! But I totally can't ship him with anyone other than in a puppy-dog PG kind of way, because he actually looks somewhat near the neighborhood of fifteen and I already feel like a dirty old lady writing fic about seventeen-year-olds even if the actors are like a year younger than me (or in Cory, Mark and Harry's case, older than me) in real life.
Oh also can we talk about the hugely unethical letter writing thing and how Shelby was totally all "oh okay sure"? Excuse me? What?
Yes! Man, if NYADA does any research at all, Rachel's application is so screwed. I mean, I'm sure it's never coming up again, because Glee, but still.
