You know, I was thinking about this yesterday, and I wonder if the show wouldn't have done a better job if they'd decided to show Karofsky coming out, because so much of the problematic stuff that happened on Tuesday's episode seems bound up in gender as well as sexuality. Male sexuality on this show, whether hetero or queer, seems to get much more respect and positive attention. I mean, since it's Glee, I imagine they would've messed it up somehow (and goodness knows they stumbled a huge amount with not addressing some of the more problematic stuff they did with Karofsky), but I'd be willing to bet it'd be at least slightly less offensive then what we saw with Santana.
